Let's cut the chase, and go to what really matters:

Story: one of the most curious plot I've seen in my anime watching life. A rock headed realist with the power to select the new ruler of Hell. A meatheaded demon and his companions/rivals wanting to be selected as the new ruler of Hell. A Victorian England set. Angels in the middle of it. Wait...what? That was my first good impression, the setting was good, the time was good (personal opinion, I love the Ol' England times) and, well, I didn't got disappointed. The plot was amazing, even though sometimes it was quite slow-paced (again, personal ...

Makai Ouji is definitely something you would probably on first impression be like: This is so unoriginal, the story is boring, why would anyone make this.
But once you actually finish the first episode, you become enticed and deeply connected with the whole story and it's characters, honestly worth your time.

Story: The story is great. It's action packed with jocular/jovial relief. The story centers around a young high-school teenage boy named William Twinning, and the setting is around the same as Black Butler, I would say. William turns out to be the descendant of the great demon tamer Solomon, and William is now forced to balance ...

I really wanted to like this anime. Unfortunately after sitting through 12 episodes all I could think about was how it was a complete waste of my time. I haven't read the manga myself so what ever that I say in this review I say it for the anime only.

Basically the entire show was a flatline, nothing special and nothing particularly interesting. At the beginning it shows some promise by leaving a few mysteries here and there which is why I actually stuck with it for 12 episodes, only to find a wall at the end of the tunnel. The story revolves around main ...

i watched this anime because it was at the point in my anime watching where I really enjoyed the supernatural genre; for some reason I was suggested this.

I don't want to negatively comment on it but the pretence was very misinforming. I thought this was going to be action packed demon brawls (although it does have it's moments), however what I got was a lot of over tones of the shounen ai which I did not sign up for when I started watching it.

some characters do have their good points with a lot of them looking very effeminate and not like men at ...

I'll cut to the chase right away:

Nothing much happens for the first 10 episodes, except for introductions of characters, some fights because the demons protect the main character in a way.
There are is repetitiveness to it because of "choose me and then I will do this for you". There are some comedic elements ingrained.

It's a curious plot; a hard-shelled realist protagonist is the Elector of the Ruler of Hell. His ancestor, Solomon, happened to get 72 demons to subjugate to him but our levelheaded William Twining won't believe in anything but science and only science.
Although supernatural events happen around him (and he sees that), he ...

First of all, I assume this anime is not for everyone. Many of male audience may find it disturbing because of some shounen-ai-ish elements. But hey, it's a goodie for girls, especially those who're into BL.

From my perspective, it is a really great anime; a somewhat complicated plot, handsome anime guys and shounen-ai-ish supplement which a fujoshi like me will highly appreciate.

The characters there are fairly interesting in each of their ways. The sounds are perfect to me and the opening/ending theme are of my taste.

BUT, at some points of the anime, I find the NOSES of the character drawings very disturbing. It ...

I typically don't write reviews, but for an average plot-line and somewhat abrupt ending this anime is somewhat intriguing. Never having read the manga, nor being a religious expert, the idea was pretty interesting, yet unoriginal. I have to say though overall the art is stellar; you can tell it deteriorated at points, but generally it was fine. It's plot line might be sub-par, but it was still enticing. Every episode had me on the edge of my seat for the next one, and every episode had a good mix of comedy and serious content (Thought the filler episodes ...

The Devil and Realist was an interesting watch for me, I am a more fast paced type of anime gal who enjoys watching sexy MALE strong Cast. Did I see YAOI based anything in this anime? No, because a person who would know the difference between a good relationship between a male and another would know that it is NOT.
I enjoyed it a lot but it was very slow for me and like many other viewers found that this anime was INDEED rushed. The ending is left open. This was something that I would wait if there was a SECOND season but I wouldn't ...

This show is pretty average.

The protagonist is entertaining and can be funny at times, however the rest of the cast is pretty generic. The cast is very pretty-boy centric, and the show in general is obviously aimed at female viewers. However there are a handful of not-terrible female characters also, which is nice.

The setting is a bit unusual for a Japanese cartoon, being set in a (I'm guessing) 19th century English boarding school. It actually seems as though a bit of research was put into the setting too, which is nice. I think that they also tried to give the supernatural things a bit of ...

The story of Makai Ouji was nice, it's not that perfect but not too bad either. I was intrigued the whole time on what will happen next and that. Some scenes were rushed and I felt like they were just goofing off from the main plot line.

Last episode gave me the chills but that ending was a bit meh. Too many questions left unanswered, the anime has a lot of potential but it just feels rushed. The story progression was slow from the previous episodes, they just rushed everything for the last episode.

I haven't read the manga yet and just watched the anime, But what ...

This anime is so gay without being gay. The cast is mostly men and they all love touching each other's faces and getting their faces really close together. Teenage me, who was a sucker for anything with a hint of BL, would have been thrilled. There is even an angel that the foot fetish people could support. Now that's representation.

The basic premise is that this entitled rich boy who is good at academics is the person responsible for choosing the interim ruler of hell and a bunch of demons are trying to get him to choose them. Also angels are doing things? I honestly didn't ...

This series is a very interesting one didn't know how I felt getting into it but it turned out to be pretty good. This series follows William Twining a descendant of King Solomon and has the ability to choose the next demon king while Lucifer is in deep slumber. King Solomon was chosen by God to be able to rule over demons and even angels. King Solomon choose to be with demons turning his back on god and the angels. King Solomon thought the way to feel something is by committing sin this is why he made contracts with demons of hell and created his ...

This review has no spoilers.
First off, I would like to say that despite the fact that I never read the manga, I would suggest everyone read it rather than watch this anime. The adaptation is horrible, and through forum posts, I have learned that some major story segments have been cut out.

The story is bland. Simply bland. Its plot is somewhat stagnant, with very few things to keep the watcher hooked in. Each episode has its own rising action, climax, falling action, and epilogue as if each individual episode was a season of the anime... though only 23 minutes long. It might be ...

Once again I'm left with a bunch of thoughts and unsolved mysteries.
I have stumbled upon Makai Ouji twice before deciding to watch it.
What can I say, third time is the charm.

This is one of the first anime I've watched where magic plays a big role.
I've never been much into that sort of stuff but Makai, that's a different tale.

I always go for the Shounen-Ai and things alike. Makai Ouji Was no disappointment.

The story was a bit repetitive despite there being only 12 episodes.
But personally, I don't mind that it's repetitive as long as I get to uncover more and more ...

I thought it was generic anime because it wasn't outstanding or anything like that. I thought it was a bit unique, I did enjoy the art, and the characters themselves but the plot was a bit lacking. Possible if it was longer then just maybe I might have given it higher rating since the story was cut off for me T-T
I would recommend it to those who like seeing bishounen or good-looking guys. I think it's for someone looking for a light-hearted series that isn't basically looking intensely into the story. I might just try the manga to see if there is any difference :D

Makai Ouji is like chewing a particularly stale piece of Dubble Bubble: the more you chew, the more dissatisfied you get.

Hard-headed William spends the majority of the series denying his heritage, and therefore his affiliation with the supernatural, even when blatant evidence contrary to known science is presented to him. He's...cringy, in a way, because despite being so "smart" he never seems to learn from his mistakes, often leading the side characters to clean up his sorry mess. Generally, the theme is repetitive, the plot episodic, its only values stemming from new appearances that may or may not be lovable with backstories that may ...

overall, the anime was verry good the characters development where somwhat interesting and the show got me relly hooked but the last episode fealt rushed, lot of scene where re-use. A lot of informations where skip and not explain much, not in the sence of a cliffhanger for a season 2 ( lets be honest, after 11 years, there probably wont be one) but relly more in the sence of " go read the manga if you care about that" wich relly is a disapointing for a last episode.

beside the ending, the anime itself dident feal rushed, the story progressed at a satifying speed, some ...

Do you like shows with a fun story? How about shows with good art? Shows with a memorable soundtrack? Shows that do anything at all whatsoever to hold your attention?

Yes to any of these? Turn away now. This is the most milquetoast, poorly put together show I've watched in a while. I'd like to mention that apparently many important scenes/plot points from the manga have been taken out, so you're already getting a chopped up experience.

But if you aren't already warned away, let me go a little more in depth.

The two big offenders about this show? Visuals and characters. Seriously, the visuals are bad. Like, ...
