The 7 Best New Movies Streaming on Netflix in February 2025 (2025)

February is often the month when the novelty of winter definitively wears off. With the holiday coziness and the fresh start provided by January firmly in the rearview mirror, sometimes there’s little left to do other than sit inside and wait for spring to arrive. Fortunately, there are always movies to watch.

This month’s slate of additions to the Netflix streaming library is heavy on recent hits, with works from the likes of Bong Joon-ho, Pablo Larrain, and Shane Black appearing alongside well-received franchise titles. From “Parasite” to the new films should scratch your itch for mid-budget big screen hits until the summer movie season arrives.

Keep reading for our seven favorite films hitting Netflix in February 2025.

  • “Parasite” (Streaming now)

We’re just a month away from the biggest day of the year for many cinephiles — not the Oscars, but the theatrical release of Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17.” The South Korean auteur’s “Parasite” follow-up has been the subject of endless speculation thanks to its frequent delays and polarizing trailers, but we’ll finally be able to form our own opinions about the English-language film, which stars Robert Pattinson as a man who is forced to die on a daily basis as part of a futuristic mission.

The wait for a new Bong project has been a long one, but Netflix subscribers will be able to get themselves through the final stretch by revisiting his historic 2019 Oscar and Palme d’Or winner “Parasite.” Not a bad consolation prize, if you ask us.

  • “The Nice Guys” (Streaming now)

Of all the would-be franchises that died on the vine after the first film failed at the box office, Shane Black’s “The Nice Guys” might be the most tragic. The ’70s-set comedic noir followed the pitch-perfect duo of Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as two private investigators with opposite methods whose attempts to look into the death of a porn star just might unveil a conspiracy. In a just world, new “Nice Guys” mysteries would be dropping with the same frequency as “Knives Out” movies, but a return to Netflix provides just the excuse we need to revisit the first film.

  • “Queen & Slim” (Streaming now)

The 7 Best New Movies Streaming on Netflix in February 2025 (3)

A powerful subversion of fugitive movie tropes, Melina Matsoukas’ “Queen & Slim” resonated in 2019 as a powerful portrait of the ripple effects that racism in law enforcement can have. Sadly, its relevance has not particularly diminished in 2025. Scripted by Lena Waithe, the film stars Jodie Turner-Smith as a defense attorney whose date with Daniel Kaluuya takes an unexpected turn when an unlawful stop by a white police officer turns into a violent altercation that sends them on the run from the law.

A collaboration between a number of then-rising stars, “Queen & Slim” is the kind of semi-recent, semi-forgotten theatrical release that often sees a massive resurgence in popularity after hitting Netflix.

  • “The Founder” (Streaming now)

The 7 Best New Movies Streaming on Netflix in February 2025 (4)

The mid-2010s Michael Keaton renaissance is still bearing fruit, and this month Netflix subscribers will have a chance to revisit a great role from his run that also included “Birdman” and “Spotlight.” “The Founder” sees Keaton playing Ray Kroc, the polarizing businessman who turned a family-owned hamburger stand into the global empire known as McDonald’s.

For better or worse, the film adheres to many standard tropes of recent business biopics, but Keaton’s performance as a ruthless control freak who saw opportunity as something to be seized with brute force is a reminder of his endless talents as a performer.

  • “It” (Streaming now)

The 7 Best New Movies Streaming on Netflix in February 2025 (5)

Stephen King is one of the most prolific authors of his era, and a truly staggering amount of his novels and short stories have been adapted into film and television projects. The sheer quantity of his output ensures that there are as many flops as triumphs in his canon of film adaptations, but “It” was a straight-up-the-middle hit that’s worth a rewatch.

The two-part adaptation of King’s thousand page novel follows a group of children who are terrorized by a shapeshifting monster who most often takes the form of an evil clown named Pennywise — and team up again to battle him as adults. The film adaptation, which starred Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise and Finn Wolfhard as one of his young foes (who aged into Bill Hader), benefitted from a wave of “Stranger Things”-fueled interest in ’80s pop culture during its initial release. A quality, faithful adaptation of a beloved King novel happens less often than you might think, and “It” should be enough to satisfy his fans looking for something to stream this month.

  • “Spencer” (Streaming February 8)

With his recent Angelina Jolie-led “Maria,” Pablo Larrain completed his Important Women trilogy, which offered distinct takes on three of the 20th century’s most famous-yet-misunderstood women. The project began with “Jackie” in 2016, but hit an even higher note with 2021’s “Spencer,” which comes to Netflix this month. A portrait of Princess Diana (played immaculately by Kristen Stewart) over the course of three days as she nears the end of her marriage to Prince Charles.

A painfully intimate slice of life that isn’t diminished in the slightest by the widespread knowledge of what’s to come, the film shows Diana as a mother who begins to see that royal life is incompatible with the kind of childhood she wants to give her sons. If nothing else, the film is worth checking out for what is almost certainly the most cinematic use of Kentucky Fried Chicken the world has ever seen.

  • “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” (Streaming February 26)

The 7 Best New Movies Streaming on Netflix in February 2025 (7)

The beauty of Dungeons & Dragons is that it can be anything you make of it, as the RPG is only limited by the imaginations of the people playing it. That flexibility presented both a challenge and an opportunity for filmmakers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley when they adapted the game into a film, but they ended up delivering some of the most endearing popcorn cinema of 2023.

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” is a romp that embraces the fantasy tropes with which the franchise is synonymous while adding enough chaos to entertain complete novices. Carried by a charismatic ensemble cast that includes Chris Pine, Hugh Grant in his increasingly fun character actor era, and Bradley Cooper in an unexpected cameo, the film could find an even bigger audience among Netflix users than it did during its initial theatrical run.
