India’s D Gukesh took the lead of the 2024 World Chess Championship final in dramatic fashion as he beat reigning champion Ding Liren in the 11th round on Sunday in Singapore.

The youngest World Championship Challenger in the history of chess, India’s D Gukesh will have the white pieces for one last time again reigning champion China’s Ding Liren. Although Gukesh is on -1 with the lighter pieces in the tournament after losing the first round of the World Chess Championship 2024, the Chennai GM would fancy a win to take the lead in the series for the second time.
Tomorrow is the last round where Ding will play White.
